Installing the Exchange server in exchange 2010 is not a tough job for Exchange Server Administrator. However, sometimes they face an Exchange error message “A reboot from a previous installation is pending” while installing the Exchange Server. The error is generated by exchange server analyzer.

The Exchange Server Analyzer software generally gathers the configuration and remotely analyze it.
The Error is created by the Exchange Server Analyzer that gathered the information and finds that there is need to restart from the following registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\UpdateExeVolatile
It also verifies that if any previous installation was pending following a restart. For that it checks the registry given below
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations
If it finds that the registry contains the corrupted or orphaned values that it will pop up error message again and again.
1). At first go to the registry key “HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\PendingFileRenameOperations”
Delete the orphaned registry key and run the Setup again.
2). Go to the registry key
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\
Open the key UpdateEXEVolatile by double clicking on it.
Enter the value 0 in it and close the registry editor
